In 1997 the record titled Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ, and Nature Present The Firm: The Album was issued. Later Cormega quitted the band, and his place was taken by Nature. Dre’s label Aftermath Entertainment and started working on their debut album. About this time Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown and Cormega organized the super-band The Firm. Due to the new sound and such songs as If I Ruled the World (Imagine That) and Street Dreams Nas became a part of the mainstream hip-hop. Nas’ second album It Was Written was released in 1996. A few months after Jay-Z countered with the devastating 'Takeover,' Nas dropped the comeback single 'Ether' and the full album Stillmatic tellingly, Jay-Z had already released his response to 'Ether' (titled 'Super Ugly') before Stillmatic even came out. In contrast to his previous work's gangsta rap themes, it contains socially conscious and philosophical themes similar to those of his debut album, Illmatic (1994). Stillmatic is the fifth studio album by American rapper Nas, released Decemon Columbia Records in the United States. The rapper’s debut album Illmatic was released in 1994 and it is considered to be one of the best hip-hop albums ever.
